Socrates is most famously associated with hemlock; found guilty of corrupting the minds of Athens’ youth, his punishment was to drink from a poisoned cup. Agatha Christie used hemlock in only one of her novels. Where in the past she'd dabbled with poisoned sandwiches, let's just say, the murderer spoilt what was probably a very nice refreshing beer.
